Sometimes, a mission needs an extra orbit around the sun before its next launch.

After much discussion, and with the full support of the FirePony Creative Society Board of Directors, Constellation’s event producers have made the difficult decision to not hold a public event in 2026.

This decision was made after assessing ongoing crew shortages, and determining that there has been an unsustainable divergence in event attendance versus volunteerism.

As the Constellation community has grown with annual ticket cap increases, the number of people volunteering in leadership positions has not grown to meet the increased workload. 

This one year pause protects the well-being of the existing crew members and the sustainability of Constellation itself. It provides the time to make the necessary improvements to Constellation’s launch pad without the rockets about to fire.

By taking this year off from producing a full-scale event, Constellation leadership will be able to reassess the event’s leadership structure, train new and incoming leadership, and re-establish a culture of volunteerism and participatory co-creation.

Thank you to everyone who has recently contacted us about stepping into leadership roles after our last call for new crew members. While the outpouring of support is appreciated, it still didn’t cover our existing leadership deficit. We will be in touch, and hope you will join us as we chart a course to Constellation 2027. The Constellation community as a whole can expect to hear from us regularly, with opportunities for community-building, art-making, and public input, as well as updates on the crew’s progress.

Constellation will relaunch in 2027, with a new star chart and course corrections that we hope will benefit everyone.
